ZAMBIA SAFARI: HIGHLIGHTS OF ZAMBIA SAFARI

This 6 night Highlights of Zambia Safari combines the wildlife and remote camps of the South Luangwa with the magnificent Victoria Falls and the variety of the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Please note that all of our Zambia safaris can be tailor-made. This itinerary is just a suggestion and can be amended to better fit your requirements.

Day 1: Arrive Livingstone, Zambia

On arrival at Livingstone Airport a Sussi & Chuma lodge representative will meet and transfer you to the lodge. The transfer time is approximately 20 minutes.

Sussi & Chuma is named after David Livingstone's faithful companions and consist of an intimate lodge and two exclusive houses, both of which are situated to make the most of the amazing views that the sweeping Zambezi River provides.

Day 2: Sussi & Chuma Lodge, Livingstone

The day is at leisure - you might choose to go on:

  • a morning game drive
  • set off on a walking tour of the nearby Victoria Falls
  • visit a local village or
  • enjoy a sundowner cruise on the Mighty Zambezi river and watch an African sunset.
Day 3: Livingstone to South Luangwa National Park

Please meet the lodge representative in the reception area for your transfer to Livingstone Airport. Depart Livingstone on a Proflight scheduled light aircraft charter flight via Lusaka to Mfuwe Airport. The flying time is approximately 1 hour to Lusaka, where you will disembark and check in for your onward flight to Mfuwe. Lusaka to Mfuwe is a 1 hour flight. On arrival at the airport a Puku Ridge Camp representative will transfer you to the camp. The transfer time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and most of it through the South Luangwa National Park.

Puku Ridge Camp is situated in a remote wildlife rich area and is named after the Puku antelope that inhabits the Kakumbi Dambo (floodplain), which the camp overlooks.

The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy one of the many game viewing activities available at Puku Ridge Camp.

Day 4: Puku Ridge Camp (South Luangwa)

A full range of day and night game drives in the South Luangwa National Park are offered, using open 4X4 vehicles driven by knowledgeable guides. The emphasis in this area is on the wonderful opportunities of walking safaris with a professional guide and an armed national parks scout. Walking safaris offer a different perspective on the bush and its plentiful inhabitants, experiencing the 'little five'.

Day 5: South Luangwa to Lower Zambezi National Park

After breakfast a camp representative will transfer you to the airport. The transfer time will be advised to you locally. Depart Mfuwe on Proflight on a shared light aircraft charter flight to Kulefu airstrip, in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The flying time is approximately 1 hour 40 mins. Kindly note, that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick up and drop offs en-route to your destination which would affect the flying time.

On arrival at the airstrip a representative will transfer you to the camp by boat, transfer time is approximately 20 minutes.

Deep in the game-rich Lower Zambezi National Park, Kulefu Tented Camp is a secluded, intimate safari camp settled comfortably in the shade of tall riverine trees. Profoundly peaceful, eco-friendly and well appointed, the camp overlooks one of the permanent channels of the legendary Zambezi River.

Day 6: Kulefu Tented Camp, Lower Zambezi

The day is at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer at Kulefu Tented Camp.

  • For the more adventurous, it is possible to take a breathtaking trip down one of the many channels on a canoe, viewing game from the water's edge.
  • Or try to catch the mighty tiger fish, fishing is done on a catch and release basis. Try beating our 12 pound (5.5kg) record!
  • Finish your day with a sundowner cruise on one of the camp's private boats on one of the many channels of the Zambezi River.
Day 7: End of safari

Time permitting, the day will begin with a game viewing activity. After breakfast a camp representative will transfer you to the airstrip. The transfer time will be advised to you locally. Depart Kulefu on a Proflight shared light aircraft charter flight to Lusaka Airport. The flying time is approximately 40 minutes. Kindly note, that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick up and drop offs en-route to your destination which would affect the flying time.
