WOLWEDANS SCENIC FLIGHTS

Scenic flights are a popular activity at Wolwedans. Commencing during the late afternoon, and giving you a birds-eye view of the Diamond Coast and Sossusvlei this is a truly exhilarating and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Scenic flight

If you stay for two nights you can choose between Route A or B. For guest staying three nights or longer, Route C (which is a full day fly-in safari) provides a wonderful opportunity to visit some of Namibia's attractions in the far South.

Route A
Take-off at Wolwedans, heading towards Dune 45. Fly down the Tsauchab River valley, routing over Dead Vlei and the mighty Sossusvlei before you head back to Wolwedans. Total flying time is approximately 45 minutes (pending winds).

Route B
From Wolwedans head south-west to Spencer Bay. Observe the Otavi shipwreck before flying north along the coast to Sylvia Hill and the 'Lange Wand'. Turn inland and circle over Sossusvlei before heading home. Pending weather conditions, an alternative route will be chosen at the pilot's discretion. Total flying time is approximately. 1h30m to 1h45m (pending winds).

Route C
From Wolwedans head south to the Fish River Canyon. Stop over for a coffee and view of the Canyon (north-western edge). From here, fly like a bird over the Canyon for a while and head north-west to Lüderitz. Visit Kolmanskopghost town and enjoy a seafood lunch followed by a city tour of this historic village. Depart in the afternoon and fly along the Atlantic coastline to Spencer Bay. Observe the Otavi shipwreck before flying north along the coast to Sylvia Hill and the 'Lange Wand'. Turn inland and circle over the impressive Sossusvlei dunes before heading home. Pending weather conditions, an alternative route will be chosen at the pilot's discretion. Excursion time: whole day, depart early morning and arriving in the late afternoon. Total time in the air is about 4.5 hours.
