Zambezi Queen


The Zambezi Queen is a luxury houseboat that operates on both the Namibian and Botswana sides of the Chobe River.


Guest facilities on the Zambezi Queen

  • On entering the first of 3 decks, guests will find a well appointed air-conditioned reading room which includes a library of books on the fauna, flora and history of the area, numerous games, and a computer facility with internet. This level also includes a curio shop and cruise director's office.
  • The remainder of the first deck and the entire second deck contains the 10 Suites and 4 Master Suites.
  • The third level/entertainment deck includes the following: dining facilities, an open plan lounge area with unobstructed views, a computerised telescope for exploring the African night sky, a fireplace and a well appointed bar with the finest wines and spirits.
  • All internal areas on the top deck are protected by mosquito screens which allow for a comfortable environment for dining and relaxing.
  • There are two outside areas on the top deck, one aft which provides a shaded area with comfortable seating and the other on the foredeck which includes a plunge pool and sun bathing area.
  • Please note, due to the nature and construction of the boat, there are no disabled facilities.

Off board activities

  • Water-based game viewing on tender boats enabling close-up viewing in an environment where the animals do not feel threatened.
  • Zambezi Queen has its own guides, all groomed by Garth Thompson, world-renowned expert in the field of guiding in Africa.
  • Tiger and bream fishing in season
  • Bird watching from tender boats and Zambezi Queen
  • A private small game viewing boat including a guide can be hired at an additional cost of ZAR 975 per day
  • A land-based cultural tour of a local village
  • A land-based half-day 4x4 game viewing in Botswana's Chobe National Park
